The first decision with a cover is not the colour or the font. It is the kind of image: a stock photograph, an author photograph, or a custom illustration. Each suits different books and budgets, and choosing the right one early saves rounds of revisions later.
Randburg authors write everything from crime novels to devotionals, so we start by looking at your genre and at the covers your readers already buy. Then we recommend the approach that fits, and show you two concepts before refining one.
Choosing a cover type for your book
Stock-image covers (R2,150 for a full print cover) use a licensed Shutterstock image and suit thrillers, romance, devotionals and many non-fiction titles. Illustrated covers (R3,850) are drawn for your book and suit children’s books, fantasy, and poetry where a photograph would feel too literal. Author-photo covers (R1,650) suit memoirs and books where the author is the selling point.
Because our studio is in Fourways, right next to Randburg, many authors here come in to look at printed samples and talk through the options before choosing. You are welcome to do the whole thing by email and WhatsApp too.
