Children’s book covers are almost always illustrated, and the cover usually introduces the main character. Get the character right on the cover and it carries through the whole book; get it wrong and every illustration after it has to compensate.
That is why our illustrated package (R3,850 for a full print cover, R3,400 for an ebook front cover) starts with character development. You see the character before the cover is drawn, then choose between two cover concepts and refine one through two rounds of revisions.
Covers for Centurion’s children’s authors and families
Centurion is a family-centred area, and many of the authors we work with here are parents, teachers and grandparents writing picture books, early readers and faith-based stories for children. Others are writing middle-grade and young-adult fiction, where illustrated covers are just as common.
If you already have an illustrator for the inside pages, we can design the cover around their artwork instead, adding the title, typography and spine. Send high-resolution files so the printed cover stays sharp.
